Chicks Like Us

Hello Chicks!

I just returned home from an amazing missions trip with our youth group. God taught me so much through these amazing teens, our youth pastor and our leadership team. We spent 9 consecutive days together helping underprivileged kids at a day camp, doing service projects for a pregnancy resource center, a home for mentally challenged adults and some other well known non-profit organizations.

We had so much fun, and while we worked really hard and accomplished so much, it seemed almost effortless because we enjoyed so much quality time together. We laughed. We cried. We made a difference and we changed lives while God changed us. We bonded and shared our hearts while we passionately pursued our purpose…together!

We did not want the trip to end, so we have decided to continue this mission at home by serving our community here…together. God is opening all kinds of doors and giving us so many creative opportunities to make a difference. We can’t wait to see what is around the next corner.

We are officially launching CLU in August with a weekly internet radio show and local life group! We will be encouraging all of you to tune into the show weekly and start a local life group of your own at your church. We want to hear about all of the creative ideas you come up with to serve your community while also serving each other.

To start a team, just find 2-4 committed female leaders (like yourself) who desire to mentor younger women. Set up weekly meetings (life groups) and find non-profit organizations in your community you can all serve together by helping them out with service projects.

For example, during our missions trip, we assembled a team that we took to Habitat for Humanity where we planted a rain garden, folded canvas tool belts, and painted base boards for houses. A 2nd team weeded the grounds at a pregnancy resource center while the 3rd cleaned the inside of the facility. We had a blast doing life together and experiencing some much needed (quality) girl time while helping others. There are so many ways that we can make a difference…and do life…together!
